More Things We Love

Otter Creek Yoga -- Joanna Colwell knows her stuff, and she brings a special brand of gentle Iyengar-style yoga to Middlebury, Shoreham, Ripton and Vergennes. She sings to her students at the end of class as they settle into a final relaxation. And you never know what interesting sociological observation she'll offer to explain a yoga pose. She’s one-of-a-kind, and if you have any inclination to yoga at all, her classes are the definitely worth checking out. I’ll see you there. www.OtterCreekYoga.com

Green Mountain Club web site -- Pretty, easy to navigate, and very informative. A good resource for Mountain Club members and nonmembers. But then, given all the club does to maintain the jewel of the Long Trail and its other work, shouldn't you really be a member?http://www.greenmountainclub.org/

The Addison County Independent -- Highly informative coverage of local government. Outstanding photojournalism and lively editorials. Yes, it could be better -- offering, for example, more newsy notes, better local columns, and features that reflect the flavor of the community. But I'm one of those people who quibbles with the New York Times and it's unparalleled. The Independent serves its community well, and I say that as someone who edited community papers for nearly 20 years. www.addisonindependent.com

The Vermont Natural Resources Council – VNRC has been working to protect the natural landscape and resources of Vermont for decades. Writer Ron Powers delivered thoughtful remarks on "A Crisis of Language, A Crisis of Land," at the VNRC annual meeting at Shelburne Farms. For a transcript of his talk, and info on how to keep Wal-Mart out of town, see http://www.vnrc.org/.
